Product description of the DM Pro power module

The newest arrival from DM Meccanica is the DM Pro programmable power module.
Using the supplied cable harness the DM Pro is installed downstream from the stock power module and before the throttle body.
In this way the data which is sent from the stock power module can be modified according to necessary requirements.
The DM Pro can in fact change the carburetion relationship independently to the one which has been set by the motorcycle manufacturer by changing the time interval in which the injectors remain open during the intake stroke.
Very often on all factory motorcycles there are limits and standards which are necessary to
guarantee the compliance with emission regulations and to adjust the engine to perform well under any condition.
For this reason the performance can be improved in relation to the pressure and temperature of your actual location whether for example you are out on a trip down by the sea or on a ride through
the mountains. An add-in such as the DM Pro is also essential should you decide to add to your motorcycle an after sales exhaust system and a race air filter as both require an optimum carburetion to achieve the best possible performance.
The power module is easily programmed via the USB connection on a PC Computer with a simple and intuitive method: instead of using the classic table of numerical values which can be found in all commercially available programmable power modules, the DM Pro is programmed by simply creating a 2D carburetion chart.
Featuring a Plug and Play system, the DM Pro is connected to the injectors, the IAT sensor and to the 12v ignition power (this is to avoid a powerless motorcycle absorption effect).

The choice of using the IAT sensor is strategic and is necessary to change the anticipation values without giving you the doubt that it will cause damage to the engine should the settings be either incorrect or too high.

Once you have synchronized a reading of the engine's RPM with the supplied software, you will then be able to create your own personal carburetion mapping by using the arrow cursors on your computer's keyboard.
The program screen is very simple and intuitive showing the relationship between the engine speed (from 0 to 12,000 rpm for the DM Pro 2 and from 0 to 17,000 rpm for the DM Pro 4) and the carburetion scale which by it's reference axis can be increased to a maximum of +30 or reduced to a minimum of -10.

Initial setup
1. Connect the DM Pro to the USB port of your computer (it is advised to use the same USB port each time you connect the DM Pro)
2. Begin a search for the COM port by clicking on the button “Search for DM Pro”
3. The software should automatically detect the COM port to which the DM Pro is connected to your computer and this will be shown in section marked “Virtual Comm”.
4. Once you have received the confirmation of a connection between the software and the
power module, it is now possible to work with the injection curve.

Creation of the Injection Curve

1. Before creating an injection curve, it is recommended to carry out an initial bench test to analyse the stoichiometric value to be corrected.
2. Begin the connection between the DM Pro and the power module of the motorcycle by
pressing the button “RPM Monitor”
3. Check the dial and modify the multiplier of the engine rpm using the value control “RPM Divider”  Confirm the changes by clicking on the button “Update
Profile on DM Pro”
4. Create a flat profile by either increasing or decreasing the initial carburetion using the button “Flat Profile Value”. Confirm the generation of profile by clicking on the button “Generate Flat Profile”.
5. Once you have analysed the stoichiometric value, you can change the injection curve using the arrow cursor keys of your computer’s keyboard. You will need to click on a point of the Injection plot using your mouse and you can use either your mouse or the arrow keys to make any necessary changes.
6. Load the injection curve onto the ROM of the power module using the button “Update
Profile on DM Pro”.
7. Once all of the tests have been carried out, save the corrected injection curve onto your
computer using the button “Save Profile”.
NOTE: All of the changes made using the software will be carried out ONLY AFTER the update of the Rom has been made by clicking on the button “Update Profile on DM Pro”
5). Note A: If you are using the software fully maximised and depending on size of your computer screen, the arrow keys on your keyboard may not allow you to change the points of the injection plot. If you find this problem, we suggest that you minimise the software window to a smaller size or only use your mouse to make any changes.

To connect the DM Pro to your motorcycle, you will need to locate both the injectors and the air temperature sensor. Once you have found the injectors and the air temperature sensor, disconnect each of the plug connectors already on the bike and connect the relevant plug connectors of the DM Pro to your bike and to the connectors you have just unplugged by creating a bridge connection. Finally you will need to connect the black wire to the Earth of your bike’s battery and the red wire to a 12v source on your bike (e.g. headlight, petrol pump). If you are unsure about the installation, we highly recommend that you speak with a mechanic for assistance.
